"Playmakers' Quavon Irby Named Tournament MVP"

The Premier Sports' Playmakers' tournament MVP for the Midwest Classic, is Quavon Irby. The Playmakers' point guard was awesome in three games played on Saturday.
Irby's excellent ball handling skills got the Playmakers into excellent scoring position all day, while he came up with timely steals and key rebounds in the final game.
He (Irby) locks up the opposing team's top scorer every game, making it difficult for other teams to get into any consistant offensive flow.
"Quavon plays the game with such intensity and passion, that I am no longer surprised at what he can accomplish on the court. The two things I like about him most is his ability to make his teammates better and he practices hard all the time," said Coach Robinson.

The Playmakers are getting into a very good habit of playing excellent defense.
The Playmakers' defense caused eighteen (18) steals after game one at Saturday's Midwest Classic tournament. All of the turnovers are leading to easy baskets at the other end for the Playmakers.
"We have been cutting down the passing lanes by keeping our hands active when the other team's are trying to pass the ball, and so far it is paying major dividends", Coach Robinson added.

"THE COACHES CORNER"
by Coach Robinson
Head Coach, Playmakers

The Coach's Corner, provides weekly insight from Coach Robinson's perspective on the team's weekly progress.
Welcome to the second edition of the Coach's Corner for the fall season.
Each week following our games, I will give a brief update of where we are as a team, along with what we need to do to reach our season goals.
After week two's tournament games, I felt we did a marvelous job of competing as a team. We are finally sharing the ball on offense and playing much better defense collectively.
I can see the reminence of players beginning to trust in each other. In order for any team to be successful, the teammates must gel with the confidence that each player is doing his job to make the team as successful as possible.
I am constantly trying to get the team to see that our success on the court this season, is directly linked to our practice efforts. We have to keep our focus on steady trying to improve, so that we are playing our best during the playoffs.
This team has real championship potential, if they can keep improving each week. Our overall team quickness, ball handeling ability, outside shooting, athleticism and team defense make the playmakers a quality contender for this season's title.

"FREE THROW SHOOTING COULD HAUNT PLAYMAKERS"

If there is one problem that could comeback to haunt the Playmakers this season, is their ineffectiveness at the free throw line.
The Playmakers have converted 15 out of 42 free throw attempts, which is only 36 percent. That is a very poor and they need to turn it around immediately!
